Petroleum Trading

1996

2001

Myanmar is the 62nd largest export economy globally, with petroleum gas being one of our main exports. As one of Asia’s primary natural gas producing nations, Myanmar has a long-standing history of petroleum trade, starting in 1853. It produces around 6 million barrels of crude oil annually, and exports a bulk of this to trade partner India. Despite Myanmar’s thriving international export market, it lacks the capacity to support its local market of petroleum gas and crude oil.

In order to fulfill the local demands of Myanmar’s steadily growing petroleum market, Manaw Thitar Company Ltd., the main foundation of our SBP Group of Companies, commenced operation in 1996. We take pride in being pioneers in Myanmar’s petroleum trade. Within our 20 years of operation, we have exported over 20,000-60,000 metric tons of petroleum products every month, based on demand.

We distribute various types of gas oil and mogas (octane) throughout Myanmar via our 65 tank trucks and 28 barges. We have depots in the Yangon Region, Mandalay Division, Sagaing Division, and Kachin State. While our main focus is wholesale and distribution, we also have retail petrol stations.

Petrol Retail Stations

In 2010, MPPE (Myanmar Petroleum Products Enterprise) started opening up to the private sector by privatizing 216 state-owned petrol stations across the country. This has paved the way for private companies, like ours, to step into the market. Since then, the market has been growing at a CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) of 18%. Shwe Byain Phyu won the rights for 16 petrol stations during the privatization process. Today, we have expanded to 29 petrol stations nationwide and built an extensive network of retail stations, commercial businesses, and one-stop service centres for our customers. SBP Group of Companies is widely recognized as one of Myanmar’s market leaders.

SBP Company’s retail stations are established under the brand “SBP Oil”, and have been supplying quality products and services to our customer for decades. Our vision for retail is to launch more than 70 new petrol stations across the country by 2025.
